Meet Susan
My love of psychiatry began almost 30 years ago during a clinical rotation in nursing school. I decided there I had found my calling and I completed my Master's degree in Psychiatric Nursing from Vanderbilt University in 1994. I spent the next 28 years working with different ages and diagnoses in psychiatric hospital settings in Tennessee and San Diego before moving to Georgia. Though I have worked with all age groups, the last 15 years were spent specializing in the adolescent population. I have also spent many years teaching psychiatric nursing as adjunct faculty in different nursing programs, including Mercer University, University of North Georgia, and Piedmont College. I decided to return to school myself to complete a Post-Master's Certificate and earned my certification as a nurse practitioner. Personally, I have lived in Gwinnett County for the last 22 years with my husband as we have raised our 4 boys. I spend my free time gardening, volunteering, and catering to my 2 very spoiled French bulldogs. I firmly believe everyone has worth and value and I feel honored to be in a field in which I am able to come along side of people as they work to find that value within themselves.
