Harriet Kay PMHNP

I am a Board Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a Master of Science from University of Alabama at Birmingham. I have been a provider for over 25 years first as an RN working with clients having experienced catastrophic injuries or life-limiting disease in palliative care and trauma and then as a Nurse Practitioner in both Psychiatry and Palliative Care. I have followed clients in residential, PHP/IOP, and outpatient levels of care for mental health and alcohol/substance use treatment. I feel that walking alongside clients through some of their most difficult days and having them trust me with their stories is a great privilege. My hope is for clients to experience a space where we can learn together what their biggest concerns/challenges are, how these are affecting their overall life, and find solutions together. My approach to care is holistic and evidence based. Simply meaning, I want to get to know you and consider all the aspects of your life that can contribute to a sense of wellbeing including sleep, diet, lifestyle, stressors, activity, support systems, etc. When medications are considered appropriate that we utilize those with the best outcomes and as a component of the plan. When I am not working, I am most likely spending time with my husband and dog on our small “farm”. I love to read, kayak, and swim. Most of all I love people and being a part of community.
