Meet Colleen
My journey in mental health began in 2022, driven by a deep personal commitment to fostering understanding and support. I've gained diverse experience across various settings, including an outpatient clinic for children and families, a multi-level security prison where I worked with varied populations including transgender women, and currently, a therapeutic day school primarily serving students with ASD and/or IDD. These experiences have shown me the profound impact of stigma and the critical need for accessible, compassionate care. I am passionate about helping others in an accepting, collaborative, and empowering way, striving to make a meaningful difference. I have a special interest in treating anxiety, depression, grief, anger management, attachment issues, and trauma. My practice also focuses on gender dysphoria and LGBTQIA2S issues, ensuring an inclusive and affirming space for all clients. My therapeutic approaches are primarily drawn from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and feminist theory. I've also facilitated groups using the Seeking Safety curriculum for trauma and addiction, leading to the development of successful mindfulness groups. In the therapeutic setting, I strive to be authentic, calm, patient, and understanding. I believe you are the expert in your own life, and our work together is a true collaboration. My goal is to empower you to gain insight, develop practical tools, and ultimately find your way to a life worth living. I am committed to continuously expanding my expertise through ongoing certifications in areas like helping anxious kids, advanced grief counseling, anger management for kids and teens, anxiety treatment (integrating CBT/ERP), addictions-informed mental health, DBT, mindfulness, trauma treatment, and ADHD clinical services.
