The frequency of therapy or psychiatry sessions should be determined based on the individual’s unique needs and circumstances. Depending on your unique needs, appointments may be scheduled on a weekly basis, bi-weekly basis, or monthly basis. Our Geode Health mental health professionals can work with individuals to develop a treatment plan that includes a recommended frequency of sessions based on their individual needs.
Many psychologists are doctors, but not medical doctors. Psychologists treat mental health conditions using talk and other complementary therapies. Psychiatrists are medical doctors (MDs). Psychiatrists can provide talk and other complementary therapies but primarily treat mental health conditions with medications.
A psychiatrist can prescribe medication and provide medical management for mental health conditions, which a therapist cannot. Additionally, because psychiatrists are medical doctors, they have more extensive training in medical issues that may be related to mental health concerns. However, therapists can provide a wide range of evidence-based talk therapies to help individuals manage their mental health conditions, and may work collaboratively with psychiatrists to provide comprehensive care.
