Meet Whitney
Hi, I’m Whitney Willborn, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with adolescents and adults ages 15 and up. I support individuals who have grown up in difficult, unpredictable, or high-stress family environments, experienced trauma, or who now find themselves feeling the lasting effects of those early experiences in their adult lives. I also work with high-achieving individuals who appear capable and successful on the outside, yet feel overwhelmed, burned out, or disconnected on the inside — especially when their work or life no longer feels aligned with who they truly are. In our work together, I help you make sense of how your past experiences have shaped your nervous system, emotions, and patterns of relating — and how those patterns may still be showing up in your relationships, work, and daily life today. I have a strong focus on ADHD and executive functioning challenges, and I often work with clients who feel stuck in cycles of overwhelm, procrastination, low motivation, forgetfulness, and self-criticism. My goal is to help you move away from shame and toward self-understanding, while building practical strategies that actually fit your brain and your life. My clinical background includes extensive experience in high-acuity and crisis-based settings, which allows me to bring both depth and safety to outpatient work. During my training, I completed practicums as a substance use education counselor for at-risk youth and as a psychotherapist in an inpatient psychiatric hospital, where I provided crisis stabilization therapy to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. After becoming licensed, I served as a program therapist in an inpatient psychiatric setting for adults and older adults, and later worked as a clinical assessor and clinical assessment manager for PHP and IOP programs across the DFW area, both in person and via telehealth. This background has strengthened my ability to assess risk, recognize early warning signs, and support clients with complex needs in a grounded, thoughtful way. My approach is trauma-informed, compassionate, and collaborative. I believe healing happens through emotional safety, connection, and self-awareness. I integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to support work with trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD-related challenges, burnout, and life transitions. I’m deeply passionate about this work because I understand how powerful it can be when someone is given the space to truly understand themselves and their story. Therapy with me is a place to feel seen, supported, and empowered — not to be fixed, but to be understood, strengthened, and supported as you create meaningful change in your life.
