I am a new graduate PMHNP, but I have been providing care as an FNP for the last 4 years. While working as a Family Nurse Practitioner, I encountered many patients who were clearly struggling with mental health issues—but weren’t getting the timely, appropriate care they needed. In many cases, they were placed on months-long waiting lists to see a mental health provider. I often felt limited in how much I could support them within the FNP scope, and I realized that bridging that gap was something I felt called to do. That’s what motivated me to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I want to be part of the solution—to provide accessible, compassionate, and comprehensive mental healthcare when people need it most, not months later. My goal is to integrate mental health support into everyday care and be someone patients can trust during their most vulnerable moments. As a new PMHNP, I would like to see a wide range of mental health condition patients, but Bipolar Disorder fascinates me a lot. It is amazing to see the differences between their 1st appointment and the subsequent visits. I specialize in medication management combined with supportive therapy, using a patient-centered and holistic approach. I would like to incorporate elements of CBT, mindfulness, and trauma-informed care to help patients manage symptoms and build long-term resilience. As a Family Nurse Practitioner, I bring a whole-person perspective to treatment—blending medical knowledge with therapeutic techniques—to support healing and growth.. My goal is always to meet patients where they are and tailor treatment to their unique needs. I am a firm believer in the benefits of breathing exercises and routinely recommend them as an adjunctive technique to support patients in managing anxiety, depression, and stress alongside their treatment plan.
