Meet Messay
I used to help and council teenagers and young adults who struggle with self-identity and anxiety issues related to their uncertain future. Formally, I started working as a psychiatric nurse practitioner in 2023 at an outpatient setting helping patients with psychiatric disorder from age 12 and up. I chose mental health for the fact that our actions and behaviors first start in the mind. Having the right mind set dictates the right action and behavior. I specialize in managing medications and treating mood disorders, ADHD, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and depression. I bring a humanistic and caring philosophy of holistic care for mind, body, and spirit, and abiding commitment to individualized, personalized, comprehensive, and culturally sensitive care for patients. Prior to my current role, I worked as a registered nurse in complex neuro/trauma and medical intensive care units for many years. I am a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center to treat patients with mental health disorders across lifespan. I plan to incorporate my critical care nursing background, talk therapy with medication management to influence behaviors to bring desired outcome for my patients. I bring my compassionate, kind, loving, caring, and good customer service personality to offer my best to my patients. I am a bilingual with English and Amharic language to deliver culturally appropriate care. My favorite quote is "A man is what he thinks about all day long" by Ralph Emerson. This explains that a person's thoughts determine their actions and character. Self-control, self-awareness, and self-improvement are keys elements to having healthy mental wellbeing.
