Lynn Spillar M.D.

I am a Psychiatrist and have been providing mental health services for 20 years in outpatient and in home settings. I see Individuals ages 18-62 and I address Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Mood Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Counseling. I am focused on providing thoughtful and individualized care, integrating pharmacotherapy with individual psychotherapy. I believe a comprehensive understanding of one's experiences helps in leading a brave authentic life, and I am dedicated to helping my patients find this. I work collaboratively with adult patients to develop personalized treatments for mood and anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). I have a special interest in women's mental health, treating mamas during pregnancy, and I appreciate the impacts of trauma and shame in the development of psychiatric symptoms. I have specialized training to offer treatments to help in these unique areas. I am an Affiliate Faculty at the Department of Psychiatry, U. T. Dell Medical School, and have served as a Psychotherapy Supervisor since 2005. In Austin, I have held board positions with Pregnancy & Postpartum Health Alliance of Texas, the Austin Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology, and Austin Psychiatric Society. I enjoy being outdoors, especially hiking, camping, and skiing, and flee to the mountains as often as possible. I always have at least one or two knitting or crocheting projects going, and I usually have a couple of books I am reading as well (rather, I listen to audible books).
