Meet Ashleigh

I have had a strong desire to help others since I was a child, particularly for the military since I grew up in a military family. Over the years, I met various people of different backgrounds and cultures and decided to use my experience and strengths to pursue psychology. After obtaining a bachelors degree in 2014 and a masters degree in psychology in 2016, I obtained a license as a professional counselor intern (LPC-intern) in 2018. I completed my hours of supervision to become fully licensed in 2021. My therapy experience has been built upon in multiple settings (Veterans Affairs Specialty Clinic, two different psychologists' private practice, and Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi's Counseling and Training Clinic as a counselor and Assistant Director) working with children, teenagers, adults, couples, and families. I have really enjoyed working as a counselor! Seeing so many people of different ages grow, change into the kind of people they want to be, become more confident, work through trauma, help them through the grief and hardships, and lead happier more fulfilled lives is truly inspiring to me. In my experiences so far, I have developed strengths in helping people achieve their goals in managing anxiety, OCD, depression, grief, trauma, lifestyle changes, chronic pain, relationship struggles, and more! I use a strong integrated approach of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), helping people learn coping skills/emotion regulation through mindfulness strategies, empowerment, and changing their thinking and behaviors into healthier thoughts/behaviors. I work with my clients, using their goals for therapy and offer direction, insight, and strategies to help them achieve their goals! I also have experience with Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for helping those work through trauma. Other areas of experience include helping those with anger management, symptoms of bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, dementia, eating disorders, and ADHD.
